I am interested in topics and themes such as drama, satire, pamphlets, images of the self & the other, national identities, citizenship, the Dutch canon and the (literary) processing of disasters (see further 'Research', ‘Teaching’ and ‘Publications’)
  • Since September 2011: director Dutch Studies (University of Groningen)
  • Since September 2017: member Advisory Board Dutch Foundation for Literature
  • Since September 2018: member national Meesterschapsteam (Dutch Literature)
  • From May 2013 until January 2019: chief-editor of Internationale Neerlandistiek (Amsterdam University Press) the peer reviewed journal of the Internationale Vereniging voor Neerlandistiek (IVN)
  • Until September 2018: member of the editorial board of Nederlandse letterkunde, peer reviewed (A-)journal on (Dutch) literary studies (Amsterdam University Press).
